HOW IT WORKS:
- Drop off your film at Signa Plants (1101 T street, Thursday-Saturday 10am-6pm) in an envelop with name, number and email address. Only accepting 120 and 135 (35mm) film formats.
- After filling out a work order slip, I will come by and pickup the film. Payment must be made at time of drop-off.
- The film will be developed and scanned within 7 business days of me retrieving the film. You have the option to request the film to be cut or uncut, or simply thrown away. You may also use a USB drive which you supply for me to offload the scans.
FAQ
Do you Push and Pull Film?
Yes! Be wary that pulling film has the potential to create thinner negatives resulting in less density in the scan. Pushing, on the other hand, will possibly create denser negatives at the cost of a larger grain structure giving the appearance of a grainier image.
Blank Roll
In the unfortunate event of a blank roll, the next dev & scan will be $8. After 2 or more blank rolls, no more discounts will be offered to the same account unless lab error.
Note: blank rolls are typically user error; however, fogged, thin or overprocessed negatives are usually lab error and subject to refund or future discounts.
When will we get our photos?
Within 7 business days of me picking up the film and receiving payment. Your will receive a google drive link of your scans via email. It is vital to download, backup, and save your scans as I, or Signa, are not liable for these digital files after 21 days of confirmed delivery.
What is the lab process?
-The developer used is Kodak HC-110.
-The scans are done using 36 megapixel DSLR raw files, then converting to tiff files with the help of Negative Lab Pro. The files sent will be jpegs at max quality, but if you want the tiff files please make a note on the work order.
Understand that all rolls will be hand developed using paterson tanks, this may lead to delays in scans based on workload.
My photos/scans are grainy or hard to see?
Remember, film LOVES light. Underexposed negatives effectively collapse as not enough of the silver in the emulsion reacted to the necessary amount of light in accordance to the film's ISO, thus the resulting negatives will be incredibly thin and oftentimes grainier than normal.
If you dropped off expired film of more than 2+ years after its expiration date the quality will vary significantly!
Why not develop Color/C41/Slide?
Due to my busy schedule I cannot accommodate these formats. I am able to scan these if one would so desire, the same scan fee applies: $11.
